IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: 9/11 rescue dog celebrates her 16th birthday in New York

Ahhhhh this is just lovely! I know this story is a week old but I don’t care.  I am such a sucker for old heroic dogs!
The last known living canine who worked at Ground Zero after 9/11 was treated to a fantastic birthday recently.
Bretagne (pronounced Brittany) and her owner and handler Denise Corliss were pampered in New York after being flown up from Texas.
To honour her bravery and her 16th birthday, Bretagne marked her birthday (and “the best day of her life”) with parties, treats and luxury.
They were given a hotel suite, gourmet burgers, rides around NYC and even the key (okay a BONE) to a local dog park.
Bretagne’s first deployment was at the World Trade Centre and since then she has worked at search and rescue and comforting people.
How terrific!  Thanks for your service Bretagne!!!
