Ellen Albertini Dow, Who Played Rapping Granny in ‘The Wedding Singer,’ Dies at 101

Actress Ellen Albertini Dow died on Monday at the age of 101.  She was the old woman who nailed “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugarhill Gang in “The Wedding Singer”.  She was 85 at the time.

 

Ellen also played Peterman’s mother in an episode of “Seinfeld”, a choir nun in “Sister Act”, and the foul-mouthed grandma in “Wedding Crashers”.  And she made appearances on “Hannah Montana”“The Wonder Years”“Golden Girls”, and “ER”.
