Jimmy Kimmel Will Air a Repeat During David Letterman’s Final Show

JIMMY KIMMEL will pay tribute to DAVID LETTERMAN by NOT competing against him on Wednesday, May 20th . . . the night of Dave’s final episode of “The Late Show”.

He says, quote, “I have too much respect for Dave to do anything that would distract viewers from watching his final show.  Plus, I’ll probably be crying all day, which makes it hard to work.”

This isn’t just him spinning a pre-planned off-week into a tribute.  He’s doing new shows the rest of the week, and on top of that, it’s one of the advertising “sweeps” weeks, where ratings are even more important.

For what it’s worth, “The Tonight Show” and “Conan” are both doing new episodes.  Meanwhile, “The Daily Show” and “The Nightly Show” are off all that week.

(By the way, RollingStone.com has a list of “Dave’s 10 Tensest Interviews”, and it includes him going after Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber, and that weird interview with Joaquin Phoenix.)
