Singer of ‘Stand By Me’, Ben E King dies
Ben E King, best known for the classic, ‘Stand By Me’, has died.
King started his career with The Drifters (‘There Goes My Baby’ and ‘Save The Last Dance For Me’) in the late 50’s and, after going solo, hit the top five in the US with his 1961 tune ‘Stand By Me’.
That song saw a return to the charts in the 80’s after it appeared in the movie of the same name.
King died Thursday according to his publicist.
He was 76.
