George Takei says William Shatner only invents tensions when he needs publicity
Star Trek star George Takei says that there is no long standing feud between him and his former co-star William Shatner.
The 74 year old Takei says that Shatner only invents tensions when he needs publicity.
In the past there seems to be some war of words going on but as he tells The New York Times Magazine,
“It’s all coming from Bill… Whenever he needs a little publicity for a project, he pumps up the so-called controversy between us.”
The 84 year old Shatner insists that he was never invited to Takei’s wedding in 2008, but Takei says that he indeed was.
“Two months after my wedding, he went on YouTube and ranted and raved about our not sending him an invitation. We had. If he had an issue, he could have easily just phoned us before the wedding, simple as that. But he didn’t. And the reason he raised that fuss two months later is because he was premiering his new talk show, Raw Nerve.”
Takei added, “I don’t need to forgive him. I’ve already invited him to the opening night of Allegiance.” (the war musical, which Takei stars in and is set to open on Broadway in November)
