MORGAN FREEMAN’S 33-year-old granddaughter was fatally stabbed yesterday morning in New York City.  E’Dena Hines was found lying in the street outside her home, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

A 30-year-old was arrested for the murder and, according to the “New York Daily News”, it was her boyfriend.

The killer was screaming what sounded like an EXORCISM attempt, and one of the witnesses heard him scream, quote, “Get out devils!  I cast you out Devils in the name of Jesus Christ!  I cast you out!”  (Read statements from other witnesses here.)

A lot of people are referring to E’Dena as Morgan’s step-granddaughter, because she’s the granddaughter of his first wife.  But Morgan adopted her mother, Deena, so even though they weren’t related by blood it’s still a huge emotional loss for him.

He released a statement saying, quote, “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer . . . Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.  May she rest in peace.”

He also made a Facebook post to thank everyone for their love and support.  (Here’s a photo of Morgan and E’Dena together.)

E’Dena did a little bit of acting.  She only had a few minor roles, but you might remember her as a mean barista from an episode of “What Would You Do?”
