Netflix Study Shows How Long It Takes To Get Hooked By A TV Show

You know how people say, “The show starts out slow, but if you can just get through a few episodes, you’ll be addicted”?  Well, Netflix did a study to find out how many episodes it takes to get people HOOKED on various shows.

It’s kind of complicated, but basically they know people stop watching if they can’t get into a show.  So they looked for the episode that resulted in the least amount of drop-off.

The episode that “hooks” people is the one that inspires at least 70% of viewers to complete the first season . . . and potentially go on to additional seasons.

For example, “Scandal” had viewers locked in by episode two . . . but it took EIGHT episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” for people to get to the point where there’s no turning back.

Here are 25 shows, and the episode that “hooked” people.

Episode Two: “The Walking Dead”, “Breaking Bad”, “Sons of Anarchy”, “Scandal”, “Bates Motel”, “The Killing”, and “Suits”.

Episode Three:  “Dexter”, “Orange Is the New Black”, “House of Cards”, “Marco Polo”, “Gossip Girl”, and “Sense8”.

Episode Four:  “Better Call Saul”, “Pretty Little Liars”, “Bloodline”, “Grace & Frankie”, and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.

Episode Five:  “Daredevil” and “BoJack Horseman”.

Episode Six:  “Mad Men”, “Once Upon a Time”, and “The Blacklist”.

Episode Eight:  “Arrow” and “How I Met Your Mother”.
