Actor who terrorized movie goers in ‘Chainsaw Massacre’ dies
The man who played terrifying chainsaw-wielding Leatherface in “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” has died.
Gunnar Hansen, who terrorized moviegoers in the 1974 movie died over the weekend of pancreatic cancer at his home in Maine, according to his agent, who described Hansen’s “Chainsaw” character as “one of the most iconic evil figures in the history of cinema.”
Born in Iceland, Hansen was an unknown graduate student in Texas when director Tobe Hooper cast him in the low-budget horror film, which became a cult hit and spawned three sequels, two remakes and a prequel.
Hansen was 68.
