American Music Awards: Taylor Swift and One Direction lead winners

Being down a member didn’t stop ONE DIRECTION from picking up Artist of the Year last night at the “American Music Awards”.  It was their second consecutive win in that category.  They also picked up Favorite Pop / Rock Duo or Group.

TAYLOR SWIFT picked up three awards, including Song of the Year, for “Blank Space”Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, and Florida Georgia Line all won two apiece.

Meanwhile, CELINE DION got a standing ovation by singing Edith Piaf’s “Hymne a L’Amour” for the victims of the Paris terror attacks.  JARED LETO introduced her.

DEMI LOVATO joined ALANIS MORISSETTE for You Oughta Know.  They kept all the dirty parts in, but ABC censored them, of course.  Demi also nailed a solo performance of her own song Confident.

JUSTIN BIEBER closed the show with a medley of “Where Are You Now”, “What Do U Mean?”, and “Sorry”.  He did the last song during an indoor rain storm.

Host JENNIFER LOPEZ started things off with a dance number, and some people think NICKI MINAJ wasn’t feeling it.  (Because of this reaction shot.)
