Patton Oswalt responds to critics who say he got engaged too soon

Comedian Patton Oswalt (from King of Queens, Ratatouille), has publicly wrestled with grief over the sudden death of his wife, Michelle McNamara, a 46-year-old true-crime writer who died in her sleep in April 2016.  He announced over the weekend that he was engaged to be married to an actress named  Meredith Salanger.

While the response has been mostly positive – some on the internet thinks it’s too soon. 

He kept quite over the weekend but then just re-tweeted an essay from a women who’s husband died 3 days before his wife.

He wrote:

I expected some bitter grub worms to weigh in (anonymously, always always always) with their much-needed opinions when I announced my engagement last week. And I decided to ignore them.

But yeah, I felt this rage. And Erica articulated it better than I could have ever hoped. So there you go.
