Jay & Tori – Oct 10 – Daddy Daughter Dances & Scary Mascots
Happy Tuesday, otherwise known as ‘Pumpkin Pie For Lunch” day. Still got those leftovers? Better make’em count.
Since today happens to be National Face Your Fears Day we learned (or re-learned) that Tori is deathly afraid of mascots. Sorry Bomber, she’s got no love for your oversized melon. Do you have anything you’re afraid of that most people don’t find all that scary?
My favs to torment Tori’s nightmares also include Wushock (a big, bad, muscle-bound bundle of wheat), Mr. Redlegs from the Cincinnati Reds, and whatever this monstrosity is. Here are 10 of the “official” scariest mascots she should be avoiding:
- The Stanford Tree (Stanford University) – The Stanford Tree mascot is known for its bizarre appearance, which some find unsettling rather than cute.
- The Fighting Okra (Delta State University) – A giant, anthropomorphic okra may not be inherently scary, but it’s definitely unusual and can be seen as unsettling.
- The Stanford Cardinal (Stanford University) – The Stanford Cardinal is a red, tree-like creature with a fierce expression that some find intimidating.
- Thunder (Denver Broncos) – While Thunder, the Denver Broncos’ live horse mascot, is majestic to many, the sight of a galloping horse during pre-game ceremonies can be intense for some.
- The Pirate (East Carolina University) – East Carolina University’s pirate mascot has a menacing appearance, complete with an eye patch and a fierce demeanor.
- Otto the Orange (Syracuse University) – Otto the Orange may not seem scary at first glance, but an oversized anthropomorphic orange can be quite unsettling to some.
- Big Red (Western Kentucky University) – Big Red is a large, red, furry creature with a perpetual smile, which can be creepy to some people.
- The Demon Deacon (Wake Forest University) – The Demon Deacon has a unique and somewhat eerie look, dressed in a black robe and hat with a demon-like appearance.
- The Mountaineer (West Virginia University) – The Mountaineer mascot often appears with a musket and a coonskin cap, which can come across as intimidating.
- The Blue Blob (Xavier University) – The Blue Blob is a blue, gelatinous mascot with an unusual and somewhat unsettling appearance.
In the least surprising news of the season, Barbie dominates this year as far a ‘most popular Halloween costumes’ according to fashion experts:
Costumes for women
- Barbie
- Princess Ariel
- Queen Charlotte from Bridgerton
MEN
- Ted Lasso
- Ken or Allen
- Indiana Jones
*if only they made Bridgerton mascot costumes I’d be set.
And there’s nothing scary about this… … other than the inevitable passage of time and the realization that your days as the #1 man in your daughter’s life will pass like the sands through an hourglass…
Yeah, I’m a ball of emotions after watching this sweet, sweet video.
Now excuse my while I run home and hug my babies while they’re still just mine. I love you Alex and Riley and I will forever and ever and ever.
