Former Bachelor Colton Underwood Has Come Out As Gay
Early this morning, Colton Underwood appeared on Good Morning America with the intention of getting something off his chest.
Colton is a fan favorite for fans of the Bachelor, first appearing as a contestant on The Bachelorette, and then chosen to be the season 23 Bachelor (only 2 years ago).
In his season, Colton opted not to propose to contestant Cassie Randolph. Instead, the couple dated until May of last year, when they broke up.
This morning, he shared the news that he is gay!
He said that after the breakup and during the pandemic, he has been able to reflect and come to terms with his sexuality.
He said,
This year’s been a lot for a lot of people and it’s probably made a lot of people look at themselves in the year and figure out who they are. I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay. I came to terms with that earlier this year, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. … I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. That means the world to me.”
He also apologized to Cassie, commenting on the rocky breakup they had.
It is known that after the breakup, Cassie filed a restraining order against Colton, only to drop it shortly after.
He comments on the “dark times” saying,
I got into a place with my personal life that was dark, and bad, and I can list a bunch of different things, but they’d all be excuses. I think overall, the reason why now is because I got to a place where I didn’t think I was ever going to share this I don’t, I would have rather died than, say, I’m gay. I think that was sort of my wake-up call.”
All in all, we’re happy for the Bachelor alum! He deserves to live his life fully and honestly.
He says he’s the “happiest and healthiest” he’s ever been.
